According to WordNet ® 2.0, © 2003 Princeton University,

"Compassion is the humane quality of understanding the suffering of others and wanting to do something about it."

Compassion is part of our better nature. It helps us relate to our fellow beings, and it blesses those who give and those who receive.

Faith-based organizations within Tuscaloosa County contain compassionate individuals who willingly respond when catastrophic conditions render others temporarily or permanently homeless or in need.

Even in calmer times, faith-based organizations join others to address persistent community-wide needs through compassionate actions. For example, our entire community and the work of faith-based organizations are impacted by transportation issues.

Now there is a faith-based organizational umbrella to coordinate an effective and efficient response to future disasters.  Compassion Coalition of Tuscaloosa County, Inc. is composed of diverse faith-based groups that are unified around the spirit of the love of God with emphasis upon loving our neighbors through compassionate actions.
